5th Ontario District
Worthy Faithful Navigators, Former District Masters, District Team Members and Sir Knights.
The Assemblies are in their 9th month and I am half way through my first year. What a time we have had in and out of lockdown. Moving to orange and back to gray. The vaccine appears to be on the way, but will it be enough? With the variants of the virus out there now only time will tell. We need to stay vigilant most of our members are in higher risk area because of age. Wear mask where required, wash our hands and sanitize so we can continue to stop the spread. As we start to reopen, we will need to follow the guide lines on any Diocesan property. It will be great to get back to Church in person and to our meetings.
The District has Zoom Pro if the Assemblies wish to take advantage of holding virtual meetings. Just contact me or Dave Gelinas to setup a virtual meeting. Some Councils during the first reopening were offering a hybrid meeting. The Executives and some members where in the meeting chamber and other members were attended from home on their computers. I believe that our District spring meeting will be on Zoom but going forward I will be holding hybrid meetings. Let me know when you start holding your meeting via zoom or live. I may be able to attend.
As you know I have been sending out emails when I am notified of a deceased member or Lady. These members are also added to or memorial page on the District website. There is many downloads available on this website that Faithful Navigators and members will find useful.
SK Dave Gelinas is doing a great job of keeping this website up to date and full of great information.
Start planning now for the programs that will qualify you for a Star Assembly Award. I know that some of you are not in this for the awards, but the programs that you run for this award often benefit your members, the general public and the church. This exposure can help you to attract new members when they see what you do as an Assembly. Lord only knows that we need new members. Congratulations to Rt. Rev. W. J. Langlois Assembly #1789 in Tecumseh for achieving the Star Assembly Award for 2019-2020.
Please, continue to stay safe and I am looking forward to get out to meet you at your events and meetings as your area opens up.
Vivat Jesus!!
